Committees

SHUMUN XIV is compromised of 9 committees divided into three tiers: cabinets, specialized and traditional committees. Each committee has been carefully selected to facilitate interactivity across all the committees to promote a deeper understanding of how all actors are effected by each other’s decisions. Thereby, a resolution passed in one committee can effect all the other committees.

Tier 1: Cabinets

Take Note of the following:

"All the committees are present-day. Basically, all events that transpire over the coming months are considered apart of the simulations. Once the conference commences, events transpiring after April 19, 2013 have no bearings on the conference. In turn, delegates will only receive updates from SHUMUN XIV crisis staff."

Tier 1: Cabinets
Recommended for delegates with:

  • 2 years of Model United Nation's experience
  • Seeking to debate in a fast-paced crisis environment

Tier 2: Specialized Committees
Recommended for delegates with:

  • 1 year of Model United Nation's experience
  • Seeking to be introduced to crisis environment

Tier 3: Traditional Committees
Recommended for delegates with:

  • Little or no Model United Nation's experience
  • Seeking to learn Core skills
    (speaking, parliamentary procedure, and resolution writing)

Tier 3 Exception (IMPORTANT):
The United Nations Security Council is recommended for delegates with:

  • Model United Nation's experience
  • Seeking to improve Core skills (speaking, parliamentary procedure, and resolution writing) in a crisis environment
