South China Sea: The Rise of Technology and Security Dynamics

The South China Sea is a vital region of trade with territorial disputes, priority shipping lanes, and great-power competition. As AI chips and drone technologies become a larger part of global trade, these innovations are central to cooperation and conflict within the region. As a representative of a country, you will come together with others to address issues and concerns that currently exist within the South China Sea.

CO-CHAIR: BRETT BERLIN

Brett Berlin is a Senior at Seton Hall, majoring in International Relations and International Economics with a minor in Spanish. The current President of Seton Hall’s Model UN club, Brett, has been a member of the club for all four years of his undergraduate studies. Brett has been competing since his Sophomore year, and this is his second time chairing a SHUMUN committee. Aside from Model UN, Brett is a DJ for Seton Hall’s radio station, WSOU.

CO-CHAIR: ABIGALE GIORDANO

Abigale Giordano is a sophomore from Brooklyn, New York, double-majoring in political science and philosophy. Abigale joined SHUNA as a freshman, served as New Member Representative, and is currently Treasurer. Abigale is also the Digital Editor of the Diplomatic Envoy. Abigale is passionate about cultivating a better world through leadership and communication.

VICE-CHAIR: DAVID GELFAND

David Gelfand is a Senior at Seton Hall, majoring in Political Science with a minor in History. David has been a member of the club all four years of his undergrad and served as Treasurer of Seton Hall’s Model UN club last year. He has been competing since his Sophomore year, and this is his third time chairing a SHUMUN committee. Outside of Model UN, David was an editor for Seton Hall’s Political Science journal. He is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society.
