Joint Crisis Committee: Trojan War – TROJANS
This Joint Crisis Committee is based on Homer’s Iliad and begins during a short respite after the duel between Paris and Menelaus. Forces on both sides of the conflict are strategizing their next moves as an inevitable war brews between them. Delegates must choose their path forward while dealing with gods, monsters, and men, ultimately deciding the fate of Greece.
BACKGROUND GUIDE
CRISIS DIRECTOR: SAM THRASHER
Sam Thrasher is a senior majoring in Diplomacy and International Relations, with a double minor in History and Russian and Eastern European Studies. This is his fourth year participating in Model UN and SHUMUN. This will be his first time crisis-directing a committee, but he has chaired two previous committees and is looking forward to it. Outside of Model UN, he is involved in the Seton Hall Slavic Club. He is excited to work with delegates this year and looks forward to chairing a Trojan War Joint Crisis Committee.

CHAIR: ZAINAB PIEH
Zainab Pieh is a junior majoring in International Relations and Diplomacy with a minor in Asian Studies, and she has competed on the collegiate Model UN circuit for the past two years. She has participated in two SHUMUN committees and currently serves as the SHUNA Training Coordinator and DEI Officer. Outside of Model UN, Zainab is the President of the African Student Association and the Treasurer of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She is passionate about global advocacy, leadership, and community-building. She is excited to meet you and hopes to create a space where delegates feel empowered to grow!

VICE-CHAIR: ALIVIA SHERER
Alivia Shearer is a freshman at Seton Hall University majoring in International Relations and Diplomacy 3+2 BS/MA. She is also a part of the Martin Luther King Student Association, the Buccino Leadership Institute, and Seton Hall’s Honors Program. This is her first year participating in Model UN ever and is looking forward to committee. Outside of Model UN, Alivia is involved in Kpop club and dance, and frequents as many Diplomacy organizations on campus as possible. She is very excited to meet everyone and have a great time at SHUMUN!
